Compass FM Community Awards 2016
Compass FM held their annual Compass Community Awards on Wednesday 9th November.
Two of our fantastic volunteers were nominated for the award for all of their help and support they provide Friendship at Home. Joan Wright and Jimmy Charlton were Friendship at Home’s Nominees for the event this year.
Joan is one of our hardworking volunteers who joined us in 2014. Joan helps at the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday social clubs and runs the Bingo club on a Thursday. Joan has also helped our members with our brilliant befriending service, visiting them at home. She also helps our members who cannot get to our social clubs by providing transport. She makes her own prizes for the club she runs which all of our members compliment through the style and designs she uses. She has provided many hours helping Friendship at Home and helped us to achieve the fantastic service we offer today.
Jimmy Charlton has been with Friendship at Home for 10 years. He helps with many fundraising events throughout the year. Jimmy helps with the preparation of our clubs such as at our Tuesday social club ensuring everything is ready for our members. He also helps by organising and supporting our large quiz and fundraising events by preparing all quizzes. He has made many monetary contributions and provided many hours of support to our clubs and events for many years.
Joan and Jimmy have been fantastic in all areas of volunteering with Friendship at Home and we have been very lucky to have them as Volunteers.
Unfortunately, Joan and Jimmy were not successful in winning the award with Compass Community Awards this year, however, they are winners at Friendship at Home as all our Volunteers are. We are extremely happy we have both of them working alongside our charity and know they will continue to provide support and help for many years.
All of us at Friendship at Home would like to congratulate Joan and Jimmy for all their hard work and contributions.
